Here are a few of the general German resources I use to teach German in Secondary school. I typically start with these to build assignments myself as part of the IB's MYP Language Acquisition curriculum framework, but most of the resources listed here are useful in just about any DaF classroom!
Assessments
Clixmix
-- a beautiful website with tons of videos on topics in Germany for children. Great for designing assessments. Sometimes it's very slow to load though.
Audiolingua
-- another great website, this one with short audio recordings in German spoken by native speakers. I've used this for listening assessments (in the MYP, Criterion A) a good bit, especially in beginner's classes.
Worksheets
ISL Printables
-- a great resources for finding other teachers' handouts, and easy to search. I use this one a few times a year when it's easier to use a ready-made handout instead of creating my own.
Schubert-Verlag
-- very well organized and designed worksheets, both for grammar and vocabulary. These are quite useful for extra practice for those students who are still grappling with a topic a few class periods in.
Grammatik
The University of Wisconsin's DaF resources (Nancy Thuleen)
-- A tremendous site, I use this one mostly to get ideas for assessing grammar.
Dartmouth University's Grammar overview
-- I've never given this to younger Secondary students but for grammar wizards (I've got a few) it's a terrific way to size up issues of how German is organised.
Landeskunde
PASCH Jugendthemen
-- an excellent selection of reading texts by level, pitched at the teenage level and with vocabulary work built in.
Deutsch-Portal
-- The Deutsch-Portal is all-around indispensable, but I use them first and foremost for classroom time spent getting to know German-speaking societies. I particularly like their resources on Switzerland and Austria. Only drawback: most texts start at a B1 level.
Community
The Deutsche Welle page for German teachers
-- excellent source of reading for higher level German classes (especially the IB DP Language B class), plus links and podcasts regarding teaching itself.
4teachers.de
-- a German-language teachers' network for pooling resources.
